When Windows saves your data it splits them into single data fragments across your disk, which means access times to your files and data are increased enormously. A build-up of fragmented data on your computer slows down its performance substantially. The read and write heads have to look for every single fragment of data, every time you want to access or work on it. Over time, this also leads to worn out hardware. To ensure your PC is running at its peak, you need to systematically pack these fragments back together.

A defragmentation puts these fragments back together and stores the files in separate Zones on your disk (Zone Filing), according to their importance and regularity of use. This leads to much quicker system and program starts and faster application times. O&O Defrag has a time scheduler and carries out regular automated sweeps of your system. By activating the Background Defragmentation, you not only bring your PC back to its peak, but you also prevent future data fragmentation at source, all automated and silently running in the background.

Maxwell ® - is the leading software for modeling electromagnetic fields used for the design and study of two-and three-dimensional models, such as motors, sensors, transformers and other electrical and electromechanical devices for various applications. Maxwell ® is based on the finite element method (Finite Element Method - FEM) and accurately calculates the static, harmonic electromagnetic and electrical fields, as well as transients in field problems.

Data assimilation methods were largely developed for operational weather forecasting, but in recent years have been applied to an increasing range of earth science disciplines. This book will set out the theoretical basis of data assimilation with contributions by top international experts in the field. Various aspects of data assimilation are discussed including: theory; observations; models; numerical weather prediction; evaluation of observations and models; assessment of future satellite missions; application to components of the Earth System. References are made to recent developments in data assimilation theory (e.g. Ensemble Kalman filter), and to novel applications of the data assimilation method (e.g. ionosphere, Mars data assimilation).

Dermatologists love to argue about disease taxonomy, and their efforts to define diseases over the past two centuries have relied primarily on phenotypes observable with the naked eye. That organ of detection can recognize distinctions that are more subtle than those recognized by means of the stethoscope, the x-ray, or the Petri dish -- hence, the number of recognized skin diseases is enormous. Since so many of these abnormalities "run in families," it is not surprising that diseases of the skin have been a rich lode that has not escaped the recent attention of the molecular-genetics miners. It is thus a bit surprising that until recently, the clinical focus of these interests has been summarized primarily by Butterworth and Strean's slender 1962 textbook, Clinical Genodermatology (Baltimore: Williams and Wilkins).

ICT for the Next Five Billion People: Information and Communication for Sustainable Development
Publisher: Springer | 2010 | PDF | 124 pages | ISBN: 3642122248 | 10.5Mb

Currently, around one to two billion users are able to connect to the Internet, most of them living in the industrialized parts of the world. However, if we want to improve the quality of life of the world population with the help of access to information and education, it is necessary that in the next decade an additional five billion people gain access to the Internet. The next five billion Internet users are mainly living in emerging economies. Therefore, the main challenge is to lower the economic barrier using new approaches for infrastructure deployment and service delivery to billions of people. This book reflects the discussions of the challenges from the Munchner Kreis with representatives from the ICT industry, academia, non-governmental organizations and governmental development organizations, among them many representatives from emerging economies in Africa and Asia. They had highlighted the real demand for ICT, and what impact ICT creates for the wealth and lifestyle of the people.
